I will be posting pages that I sponsor to enable my artwork sponsorship. It is another way for me to make sure my artwork gets noticed and hopefully someone will find a place in their home for it!

As of now, I still have yet to sell a piece of artwork. "Oh the life of an artist has its trials!"

Disappointment...continually

When I first started my art, Zentangle, I thought, "Wow, this is going to get me far!"  And I had high hopes that I'd sell alot of my pieces and get a name for myself.  I see this type of art form all over the internet and it's got quite a following, but sadly none for me.

I only have one follower, but I think that it's because I don't blog on a daily basis as I would like too.  My life at the moment is chaotic and extremely busy and I have way too many things I like to do.

What bothers me the most is that, this type of art form, as different as it is, is not hard to do!  It's basically doodling with a purpose!  The purpose is to form something unique with it and there are patterns that you can use, buy books with patterns, or just make up your own as you create!  So if this art form is so easy, why is it that I can never get anyone to sign up for my classes?   Or even better, to BUY my artwork?

Oh sure, I get loads of people telling me how beautiful it is, even tell me that would like to buy it, and then don't.  I even went to an Artisan store in Chicago, and my artwork would have fit in great with the other pieces that they had, but they thought otherwise.

I then start to think, why bother?  Why should I even bother to go about to create such art work, only to be let down constantly.  I am running out of room in my home as to store it!  I didn't plan on creating artwork for it to be "stored".

I'm frustrated, and at the point of stopping all together.  I seriously doubt that this blog will get any followers but then again, like always, I can hope...but then that too dies, like with everything else I have tried to create.

I have another Art Show in Plainfield, Illinois, it is to be held September 11th.

Demonstration

This Saturday, August 21, I will be doing a demonstration of my artwork from 11-3pm at Hobby Lobby and I'll also have a sign up sheet to take a class from me. So hopefully I'll get a good response.

I offer classes at the Plainfield Art League, but classes aren't going very well there, for whatever reason and I'm not the only one whose classes aren't going well.

Teaching my first Zentangle Class

This piece, Seascape, was my second attempt at Zentangle.

I taught my first Zentangle class at the Plainfield Library to a lovely 4th grader.  It was only to have been an hour long class, which lasted an hour and a half!  Time flew so fast that we both couldn't believe that, that much time had gone by already.  We started on making our own Zentangle Pattern book and gave her a pattern to work on till our next class.

I'll be teaching another class starting up April 10th.  I'm hoping all goes well and that the kids have fun with it!

This piece "Girl With Crow" was my first attempt at Zentangle.  The crow was put in later when asked from my publisher if I could put a black crow in, which I quickly drew up and tapped to the original.

It was published last month in Mississippi Crow Magazine, Issue 9
